Casanova
Fellini's Casanova |
I have always admired the man, the life of several up and downs, his immoralities and having no remorse about it, escaping the notorious prison of Venice, playing with fire many a times. Perhaps i wouldn't have liked the man if i met him personally. There must be something missing in his character, probably a deep flaw that made him so attractive so risk taking and so without care. Fellini portrayed him as stuck in loneliness as he gets older and as time changes. The movie depicts a man, a cold man, and the film itself too is also without any emotion save the creepiness of the main character projecting on the scenario. I think Fellini might have caught something about the man. That lack of bonding. There is seduction, a life of battling on the front line of love affairs but it just goes on and on until he loses vitality where he remains without any true bond but memories of excitement of conquest.
Casanova |
A memorable dark scene where Casanova dances with a doll, what can make you feel lonelier than that?
