Famine and Feast Cycle, 3 M Years Ago
This was pretty much how our eating pattern was throughout most of our ancestors' history of evolution. This led to pretty thrifty genes witholding any energy they can put their hands on in their search for food. These thrifty genes were selected through ages to store energy for times of scarcity. The modern times for the most part have straightened this cyclical pattern into a flat continuous line of supply. The processed food caused a never ending feast if you especially compare it to the times of our evolutionary ancestors. Therefore now we face an energy crisis in our human bodies too, an epidemic of metabolism and obesity.
